‘AZAADI’, ‘AZAADI.’ These were the literal slogans of the people of subcontinent when they finally got an independent nation. It was on 14th August that the entire sub-continent was chanting ‘Azaadi.’ There was sheer unity and patriotism among people. Since independence, Pakistan has been creating a mark by setting records for the world to see. The land with more than 197 million population has always rocked the world. Everyone knows about Pakistan and its chivalrous people. Here are few records that Pakistan has set so far.
- Largest Volunteer Ambulance Organization:
Abdul Sattar Edhi has set a record of setting the largest volunteer Ambulance organization which was founded in 1951 and has 300 centers across Pakistan.
- World’s largest mosque:
Pakistan has one of the largest mosques in the world (built in 1976) that is the Shah Faisal Mosque. This mosque is situated in the capital city of Islamabad, it has a capacity of approximately 100,000 people.
- Youngest Microsoft Certified Professional:
Arfa Abdul Karim Randhawa was a Pakistani student and computer prodigy who became the youngest Microsoft Certified Professional in 2004. She was submitted to the Guinness Book of World Records for her achievement.
- World’s Biggest Mountain Face:
The ‘Nanga Parbat’-The south face rises (unbroken) for 4,600 meters from the base of the mountain.
- Youngest gamer:
Sumail Hassan Syed emerged as the youngest player to exceed one million-dollar earnings from gaming competitions. Although this Pakistani-American has won many international Dota2 contests for his team, “Evil Genuises”, he is widely known for his Guinness world record.
- The smallest published Quran:
Dr Muhammad Saeed Karim Beebani, a Pakistani, published a miniature Quran in Cairo in 1982. It measures 1.7 cm × 1.28 cm × 0.72 cm (0.66 in × 0.50 in × 0.28 in). It must be noted that he managed to fit the unabridged version of the Holy Book in 571 pages.
- Youngest Cricket Test Player:
Hasan Raza is the youngest Test player ever who made his debut, at 14 years 227 days of age, against Zimbabwe at Faisalabad, Pakistan in 1996.
- Fastest Cricket Bowler:
Shoaib Akhtar bowled the highest electronically measured speed for a ball bowled by any bowler that is 100.23mph (161.3km/h) against England in a 2003 World Cup match at Cape Town, South Africa.
The father of nation Quaid-e-Azam had always wanted a separate homeland and after his immense struggles we got Pakistan. And just like he said, with faith, discipline and selfless devotion to duty, there is nothing worthwhile that you cannot achieve.
